The following is a guide to assist you in calculating how much paint you will need.
Example – Room 1
Room dimensions:
| Width |
3.67 metres |
| Length |
3.67 metres |
| Height |
2.40 metres |
To calculate the wall area:
Width X Height X Walls with same dimensions = Total Wall area
3.67 X 2.40 X 4 = 35.24sq. metres
Example – Room 2
Room dimensions:
| Width |
4.50 metres |
| Length |
6.35 metres |
| Height |
2.40 metres |
To calculate the wall area:
Width X Height X Walls with same dimensions = Total Wall area
4.50 X 2.40 X 2 = 21.60 sq. metres
6.35 X 2.40 X 2 = 30.48 sq. metres
21.60 + 30.48 = 47.64 sq. metres
On average 1 litre of emulsion paint covers approx 12 sq metres
Room 1
(35.24 divided by 12= 2.94 litres) 2.94 litres is for one coat for this room. To allow for two coats it will be 5.88 litres. 5 litres may be enough for this room if there were windows, doors, fireplace, book case etc. in the room.
